Artist Bio: Mary Kirk Kelly lived in Axis, Alabama, and began her career as a ceramicist upon retiring from teaching in the early 1970s. After being asked to reproduce a replica of a neighbor's prize cabbage, she began creating realistic life-size ceramic fruits and vegetables, as well as utilitarian pieces on those themes. Her painstaking attention to detail continues to intrigue collectors worldwide.
