Exemplifying the extraordinary tactile craftsmanship of late Meiji period ceramic arts, this antique Japanese seven-piece porcelain dessert service features a vibrant coral-orange ground centered on a flying crane, or Tsuru, surrounded by stylized floral motifs and framed by a dark border accented with raised cobalt-blue wave patterns and metallic gilding. Produced in Japan circa 1890 to 1910 and marked on the undersides with the red hand-stamped Dai Nippon Abe seal, the set comprises one master serving plate and six smaller plates. The intricate composition is rendered using raised moriage enameling, creating an exceptionally beaded and textured three-dimensional surface across each piece.
