The composition features a dense, gestural field of deep violets and bruised indigos applied with horizontal sweeping motions that evoke an undulating tide, dramatically interrupted by bands of earthy ochre and crimson. True to London’s commitment to total craftsmanship, the piece is housed in a custom frame hand-finished in 22K gold leaf, which serves as a luminous architectural boundary to the somber ink. In a sophisticated nod to exploration and place, London integrated a vintage map of Marin County as the backing, grounding the elemental abstraction in a specific geography.
