Crafted in Ishikawa Prefecture during the late Meiji to early Taisho era (c. 1890–1910s), this striking set of five Japanese Kutani export plates pairs intricate historical artistry with a bold, graphic presence. Each 7 ¼-inch fine porcelain plate features a hand-painted Chinoiserie landscape in overglaze enamels, depicting figures by a footbridge flanked by cobalt-blue blossoms, tiered pagodas, and palm trees. A vibrant, luminous apple-green enamel ring encircles the central scene, transitioning outward to a heavily decorated rim detailed with pagodas, pine trees, gilded lattice scrolls, and a rich, dark green wave-patterned edge. Finished with hand-applied gilt accents and stamped with an iron-red circular seal mark on the underside, the set remains in good antique condition with age-appropriate wear to the gilding and minor enamel patina that underscores its authentic provenance.
