A striking study in organic architecture, this pair of monumental 47-inch teak root vessels bridges the gap between Brutalist design and Organic Modernism, transforming reclaimed timber into sculptural vertical forms. Expertly handcrafted using a tessellated technique, individual slats of root wood are joined in a segmented mosaic to reveal a rich topography of swirling grain, knots, and deep amber tones. Exceptionally versatile, these statuesque planters command attention in a grand foyer but are durable enough for al fresco installation; while currently sealed with a protective gloss, they offer a choice of aesthetic evolution outdoors—either maintained with varnish to preserve their warmth or allowed to weather naturally to a distinguished silver-grey patina. The pair is in good condition, exhibiting structural integrity and the authentic wabi-sabi character of artisan-made pieces, with visible signs of use including marks in the finish, scuffs, and surface scratches that underscore their rustic provenance.
