Pair of Fine Architectural Elements: Early 20th C. Continental Baroque Style Pilasters

A fine pair of early 20th-century Continental Baroque style paint-decorated and parcel-gilt wooden architectural pilasters or term figures, created in the expressive manner of celebrated Alpine Baroque sculptor Johann Meinrad Guggenbichler.  Each piece is surmounted by the expressively carved head of a boy featuring textured, curling locks and rosy polychromed cheeks, set above a tapering standard detailed with dramatic parcel-gilt drapery and a vertical sequence of fan-shaped floral roundels. The standard transitions into a molded stepped base finished in dark paint and warm red undertones, while the lower back of one pilaster displays an incised "KS" artisan monogram. Both pieces exhibit lovely natural patina, light distress, and minor wear to the gilding and polychromy consistent with age, and come fitted with hanging hardware on the flat reverse for easy installation as architectural wall sculpture or decorative framing elements.
