Tête De Coq Hood Ornament by Lalique

A Lalique automobile radiator mascot, 'Tête de Coq'.  A rooster's head. Signed "Lalique France." Some scratches to bottom where ornament would have been attached to the radiator. Minor chip to top of comb. Model: 1137. A rainbow of colors are seen when the light hits the rooster. Perfect for a sunny spot on a shelf or a desk.

René Lalique, France's leading commercial glass producer, made a stunning range of Art Deco objects, from vases and sculptures to perfume bottles and car mascots. He designed 29 car mascots over five years for firms such as Bugatti and Bentley, beginning with Citroen's 'Cinq Chevaux' automobile in 1927. Art Deco in style, the mascots could be lit in a spectrum of colors, the light intensity increasing with the speed of the car.
