Designed in Burlington, Vermont, by Dr. Turner Osler around 2017 to 2018, this QOR360 Ariel stool represents a sophisticated convergence of orthopedic science and minimalist furniture design. Dr. Osler, a retired academic trauma surgeon and research epidemiologist with over 300 peer-reviewed publications, conceived the design after experiencing unrelenting back pain from a transition to desk-based research. Drawing from his expertise in human anatomy and biostatistics, Osler sought to "change the way the world sits" by replacing passive, static chairs with a solution that works with the body’s natural skeleton rather than relying on external supports. Assembled by Manufacturing Solutions Inc. in Morrisville using components sourced from across Vermont, the piece features a signature bent-plywood base that provides an organic, sculptural foundation for its patented active seating technology. The stool is crowned with a vibrant red, contoured seat engineered to promote natural spinal alignment and fluid 360-degree movement, transforming the act of sitting into a kinetic experience. While this early-generation model, marked by the authentic QOR heat-branded insignia on its interior frame, displays a minor upholstery tear along a corner crease, the imperfection serves as a subtle testament to its functional history without compromising its striking architectural presence or its role as a high-performance statement piece.
