5'x 6'
A beautiful texture rich rug. Wool on cotton foundation. An earth tone mushroom field with three pink octagonal medallions, meant to represent elephant feet. Each enclosing a cruciform center piece overlaid on columns of rhombus medallions, within multiple complementary borders. Professionally cleaned. Excellent condition.
The reverse knotting shows the rug to be made on a huge commercial scale. This rug displays a style of design based on traditional Persian tribal composition. This design is based on a Turkoman tribal tradition originating from West Turkestan, defined by the columns of the rectilinear rhombus medallions. The large octagonal medallions overlaid on the field are also based on Turkoman tribal iconography. The colors are from a traditional and extensive Pakistan palette.
