This elegant French brass fireplace screen showcases a stunning figural design featuring a graceful woman dancing with a tambourine. Atop the screen, a central flame urn finial sits proudly on a lambs tongue plinth, flanked by intricately pierced and chased folding fans. Richly decorated with acanthus and bellflower motifs, the piece rests on a scrolled acanthus beaded swag base, adorned with a central mythological figural medallion.

Despite one bent hook on the side that secures the fans in a closed position, the screen is in excellent vintage condition, retaining its original charm and beauty. Brass peacock screens like this became especially popular in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, particularly during the Art Nouveau movement, and remain timeless pieces of functional art.
