Champleve enamel with an intricate key motif on this bronze candleholder. Fabulous workmanship through out. Earthy terracotta, lapis, and turquoise colored enamel. Wear consistent with age and use. Unmarked. Small hole on base.

Champlevé is an old technique, wherein fields of design are gouged or cast in metalware, filled with enamel and then fired. The metal lines are polished, and they contribute to the design.
