Blue Pakistani Karachi Rug

A hand tied beauty from  Karachi Pakistan. The rug displays a style of design based on traditional Persian urban composition with a traditional tribal style. The reverse knotting detail is visible on the back. The colors are from a traditional and extensive Pakistan palette, the tones of which suggest that this rug was created around 1970.

The pale blue field has a central ice blue hexagonal stepped medallion supported by two stepped cartouches. Dark blue hooked spandrels are within a blue border enclosing flower heads. An architectural piece.
