Hand Tied Erivan Rug
5'4" x 3'1"
The vibrant red, blue, and gold field are regional. The central ivory medallion is the main focus of this artisan rug. Enclosing the octagonal red centre piece supported by flora forms, within a continuous linked flower head border.
The reverse knotting and traditional iconography indicates the rug to be Erivan. The traditional design within the weaving center of the rug is associated with the Mountainous region of the Caucasus in Armenia and Azerbaijan. Rugs from this region display flora and fauna motifs which are drawn in a rectilinear style which are often totemic in appearance. Great condition. Professionally cleaned.
